Who can apply?

We are looking for:

  • Authentic desire and drive to commit to a three-year doctoral program
  • Willingness to develop further and learn in a multidisciplinary environment of talented people and high-end facilities
  • Interest in living as part of an international community in the centre of Germany
  • Solid English language ability, written and spoken as well as capability to work with English publications
  • Fun in solving problems, carrying out analysis and working with attention to detail
  • Above average performance in the scientific field and academia
  • Hands-on lab experience
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in biology, biochemistry, medicine, bioinformatics or related by October

Tasks of a doctoral student include:

  • Independently project managing, conducting and documenting a research project
  • Planning, designing, putting into practice and controlling all laboratory and experimental work
  • Using methods such as

    • Bioinformatics
    • Cell Sorting and Flow Cytometry
    • Generation of Transgenic Animals
    • Genomics
    • High Resolution Confocal (in vivo) Imaging
    • Metabolomics
    • Proteomics (Biomolecular Mass Spectrometry)

  • Participation in curricular and extra-curricular activities, such as lectures, soft skills courses, methods courses, retreats, presentations, PhD committee, thesis committee
